The Nandina Shrub is a Richmond favorite for landscapes and green spaces. A tough evergreen with bright seasonal blooms.
Nandina can grow to be between 2 to 10 feet hight depending on variety and conditions. They will spread up to 5 feet with thin cane like stems with fine foliage. Leaf sizes vary from 1 to 3 inches and are oval shaped with fine points on the end. Foliage darkens over time from a pink hue to a light green. In winter foliage edges will turn a soft red. The shrub will flower in Spring and early Summer at the end of the branches. Berries arrive in Sepetember and will hold til Winter, perfect for that splash of fall color in your landscape.
Nandina are slow to medium in growth rate, from 5 to 20 inches a year depending on conditions. Nandina preferes moist soil, Partial Shade to Full Sun, but in a sheltered location away from high winds. The leaf color changes by sunlight amount.

To keep your flowers as fresh as possible, we strongly recommend that you trim the ends of the stems weekly. Use a knife or clippers to make a 45 degree angle cut about one half inch from the current end of the stem.
With the flowers out of the vase or container, replace the water. Once the water has been changed and the flowers cut, place the flowers back into the vase. Although it is not a requirement, adding flower preservative to the water before returning the flowers to the vase is higly encouraged.
Make sure the flowers do not sit in a sunny window or near a heat vent as this will cause wilting. Keep them as cool as possible. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us via email or phone.
